She has taught a biology at Hanbit high school and honorly retired this year.
As an adventurous and inquisitive Korean, she has trodden all the way through into the Austrailia to tie the knot with Peter in 2011.
Yes, when she finally found the one , Peter, who is an engineer, biligual for both human and machine, all the family gave the couple the blessing without reservation.
Like a man from Mars, and a woman from Venus, they have lived through all the differences (like, nationality, gender, west vs east, north vs south etc) to make a difference.
At Hanbit school, alternative education institute located in 담양, she was well known for an accomplished, loyal, trustworthy scholarly teacher. Her class was popular among students for igniting curiosity for science and life,
She also led the student council, giving a hand to help students go to all the prestigious university (like medical schools, Seoul National University and so on)
After the retirement, she has volunteered to all the community educational projects incessantly.
Peter, as the name suggests, is a lifelong dream worker who can live with birds, communicate with machine and love on his own way my aunt, He is a scientist , engineer and computer programmer but he also has integrated nature, art and a girl from Korea into his grid. Eventually , they have bridged, stuffed all the sea of differences between them, Korean and Austrailia, or all the grids seperated from each other for some reasons,
That's why they are match made in heaven,
I have never been to Austrailia, but so many times have I heard that your country is another heaven for many reasons.
I wish Austrailia would be the same heaven for the aunt and uncle Peter, so that they could live as a match made in heaven as named.
Born and raised as economically and socially independent woman, she decided to take up the vocation as a teacher in Korea,
Moreover, she could not leave her old parents so far away.
So, from time to time, her husband crossed the seas to see his wife. That's the half way around the globe, That's a pilgrim which resembles the journey of birds that he compassionately admires all his life.
Over the 15years I have met Peter in person 4 times. He spent his vacation in 담양, 부산,and 서울, As you imainge, that's a quite challenging journey for the right opposite side bird,
I can reminisce the moment we met our uncle for the first time, All the family members are just laughing, because it's the only language we could share. He tried all kinds of meals we served with all courtesy and love, He smiled a lot and had a good time with cousins, He also enjoyed looking around the country,
Back then, there were few, in any, tourist in Korea, unlike nowadays, However, he showed special interest in traditional fish market,자갈치, And as a lifelong bird watcher, he was thrilled with going to 을숙도, sort of stopby where all the migratory birds stop and stay for refresh. He excitedly gave us an account for all the stories of birds that we were seeing, unfortunately which we couldn't grasp, but it's the passion and love, not the knowledge that gets grips on us, That counts,
Speaking of counts, there have been many counts that he had to count on my aunt.
Led by his dream and purpose, he had to go through uncountable physical suffering and surgery,
My aunt could not leave him alone, so she arranged all the recovery process with the help of her brother, doctor 이규보,
with all the schedule and duty at the school, she dedicated her time and resources to his recouperation without a moments' wait,
No As soon as the school was over, she hurried herself to the hospital to attend on him all night through alone and faithfully.
If she hadn't sacrificed her life, he couldn't have gotten better so miraculously,
Without love for him and life, she couldn't have commute from 담양 to 서울 ( round trip about 500km) 15 times a month.
Without love for him and life, she could n't have tackled the challenge that he be freed from all the neurological , cardiovascular illness
All the medical history papers proves their battle over the differences and being only a human.
